On February 19, 2026, volunteer Mane brought a dog named Sinka to our clinic - she lives near Mane’s home. Sinka kept catching her "fifth toes" (dewclaws) on everything, injuring herself and suffering. Sinka is about 6 months old.
At the February 19 appointment, we performed an ovariohysterectomy and removed the dewclaws on Sinka’s hind legs. We also vaccinated and microchipped her.
The spay surgery and dewclaw removal were covered by The Jar of Kindness.
Vaccination and microchipping were covered under our vaccination and microchipping program for stray animals.
After the surgery, Sinka stayed for a few days in foster care under the supervision of Mane and Marianna.
But on February 26, Sinka came back to us - she managed to lick and damage the stitches on one of her paws. We placed additional sutures, prescribed treatment, and set strict control to prevent her from reaching the wound again. This follow-up bill was also covered by The Jar of Kindness.
Right now, Sinka is under close supervision at Mane’s. We hope healing will go smoothly and without surprises - Sinka has already shown she has a talent for finding adventures.
