Dunchik lives at Armine's shelter. On February 14, Armine brought him to our clinic in critical condition: he had ticks all over his body, Dunchik was lethargic, and he had several episodes of severe muscle spasms. He also had vomiting and diarrhea.
We performed a microscopic examination of a blood smear and found a Babesia parasite. This is a tick-borne disease (babesiosis) that can rapidly worsen a dog's condition and requires urgent, specific treatment.
At the appointment, we placed an IV catheter and started stabilization. We administered an infusion of Ringer's solution, gave a specific anti-babesiosis medication (Forticarb), and provided supportive therapy to reduce inflammation and help him feel better.
The total on the invoice is 29,200 AMD. This amount includes the initial consultation, blood sampling, catheter placement, Babesia blood smear, infusion and medications, consumables, and injections.
Dunchik's invoice has been closed through the Bank of Kindness. He is now continuing his treatment course as prescribed by the veterinarian under the care of his guardian.
