Jenny: follow-up appointment on February 19

Jenny is a puppy who was found in Vanadzor after an injury and brought to us in critical condition. Back then, we performed an initial examination, ultrasound, began stabilization, and provided a recovery plan.

On February 10, Jenny showed good progress: she became more active, her appetite started to return, and her overall condition looked more stable. But patients like this often go in "waves": better today, and then the body can crash again tomorrow - especially if there is pain, stress, dietary mistakes, or a hidden infection.

On February 19, Jenny was admitted again in serious condition: she had not eaten for 5 days, marked apathy, severe foul-smelling diarrhea, pain in the pelvic area, temperature 39.5. Based on the combination of signs, we considered several causes: acute GI upset (including toxic), pancreatitis, a bacterial infection, and a viral cause.

We placed an IV catheter and started infusion therapy with Ringer’s solution with added B12 for a 7-day course - to support fluid-electrolyte balance and recovery. We started an antibiotic for 7 days - given the pronounced inflammatory process and the risk of bacterial complications. We provided feeding recommendations and supplied the volunteers with food from The Jar of Kindness.

The bill for the visit and medications was 12,100 AMD. It has been paid, the balance is closed. The supporting documents are available here.
