Lettuce can be a healthy addition to a dog’s diet. It is low in calories, rich in fiber, and contains vitamins A, C, K, and folic acid. This helps digestion, supports the immune system, and does not harm the dog’s weight. Offer it finely chopped, in small amounts, as a supplement to the main food. Avoid dressings, salt, and oils - those can be harmful.
Lettuce for cats
Cats do not need lettuce as part of their diet, since they are carnivores. Still, some cats enjoy chewing leaves to get extra fiber or help the stomach deal with hair. In small amounts, lettuce is safe. But if a cat eats too much greenery and refuses its main food, that’s a reason to see a vet.
