Traveling from Armenia to Russia
Veterinary Passport
For international travel, your pet needs a veterinary passport. If you do not have one yet, you can arrange it at our veterinary clinic. The passport includes all the basic information about the pet: name, age, breed, as well as information about vaccinations and procedures.
Fill in the first page of the passport yourself, which contains information about the pet and its owner. All other information, including vaccination records and other procedures, is filled out by the veterinarian. If your passport is lost, you will need to obtain a new one.
Pet Identification: Marking and/or Microchip
For transporting a pet within the EAEU, including between Armenia and Russia, it is possible to use a marking if your pet already has one. However, we highly recommend installing a microchip even if your pet has a marking.
A microchip is a universal means of identification and is accepted everywhere. It is especially necessary when traveling overland through Georgia.
Microchipping is done only once, and the chip has no expiration date. The procedure is simple and relatively painless for the pet. After the chip is installed, make sure its data is read correctly. The chip number can be registered in international databases, which will help in case the pet is lost.
It is important to remember that microchipping must be done before vaccination.
Rabies and Comprehensive Vaccination
For international travel, your pet needs the following vaccinations:
- Rabies Vaccine. In the case of the first vaccination or if the previous vaccination has expired, a 21-day quarantine must be observed before traveling. Revaccination must be done before the previous vaccination expires.
- Comprehensive Vaccine. For dogs, this includes vaccination against distemper, parvoviral enteritis, adenovirus infections, parainfluenza-2, and leptospirosis, while for cats, it includes panleukopenia, calicivirus, and other diseases. Vaccination and quarantine conditions are similar to those for rabies.
Before vaccination, it is recommended to deworm the pet to ensure its health and safety. Stickers with vaccine information must be placed in the veterinary passport and certified by the veterinarian's signature.
Document Processing
For traveling to Russia, you need to obtain a Customs Union Certificate Form No. 1.
You can obtain the certificate at:
- Zvartnots Airport cargo terminal (2nd floor, room 227, from the stairs, go inside and to the right, Mon-Fri 10-17, lunch 13-14)

Obtaining the certificate at these locations is free
They must have the originals and copies of the following documents with them: transportation tickets, the pet owner's passport, and an international veterinary passport.
It is important to remember that the paperwork must comply with all rules, otherwise problems may arise when crossing the border.
