From April 28 to 30, 2025, a free spay/neuter campaign for stray dogs and cats was held at the “Shunn u Katun” Veterinary Clinic in Vanadzor.
The campaign was organized with the support of Tierschutz Entwicklungshilfe (Germany) and Fondation Brigitte Bardot (France).
Campaign Results
Over 3 days, we performed 108 surgeries:
- 29 female dogs
- 17 male dogs
- 24 female cats
- 38 male cats
Each surgery means:
- Prevention of disease
- Avoidance of unwanted births
- Reduced stress, aggression, and danger
- A step forward in humane population control
How It Was Organized
- Admissions started at 09:30 AM (10:30 on the last day), on a walk-in basis
- All surgeries were performed by experienced international veterinarians
- We used modern anesthesia and sterile materials
- Every animal received post-op care and ear tagging for identification
Clinic Contribution and Funding
Although free for caretakers and volunteers, the campaign required serious investment.
The “Shunn u Katun” clinic contributed over 300,000 AMD, covering:
- Medicines and consumables
- Staff working hours
- Utilities and food for the team
- Cleaning, organization, volunteer coordination
