Visitors to Sayat-Nova Park in Vanadzor have known and loved Kukolka for a long time. In late summer 2024, the friendly dog became seriously ill. People noticed that something was wrong, brought her to the clinic and helped her through treatment.

A familiar face in the park

Kukolka is gentle and sociable. She is always pleased to see people, follows them on their walks and happily accepts treats. Many park visitors know and love her.

When Kukolka became ill

In late summer 2024, Kukolka became lethargic and almost lost interest in her surroundings. She also developed bloody discharge. Konstantin, a Vanadzor resident, noticed the change in her behaviour and brought her to our clinic.

Four weeks of treatment

After examining Kukolka, we diagnosed a transmissible venereal tumour, a malignant tumour that needed prompt treatment. We prescribed a course of chemotherapy.

The treatment required vincristine. The medicine was rare and expensive, but our friends in Tumanyan, who had previously helped with Gata's treatment, managed to find it.

Kukolka received chemotherapy for four weeks. She had regular tests, while the veterinary team closely monitored her condition and how she was responding to treatment.

The people who stayed by her side

Yulia and other volunteers cared for Kukolka, brought her food and watched her condition. Their calm presence and care helped her through the difficult weeks of treatment with more confidence.

Back in the park

Her test results gradually improved, and her appetite and energy returned. After completing treatment, Kukolka returned to the park. She is once again greeting visitors with her gentle, friendly nature.

Kukolka's treatment was possible because caring people donated towards it. Thank you to Konstantin, Yulia, our friends in Tumanyan, every volunteer and everyone who helped pay for her treatment.
