Growling, hissing, lunging or hiding often comes from fear and pain. The goal is not to catch the animal at any cost. A failed attempt can cause a bite, another injury and greater distrust the next time anyone approaches.
While help is on the way
- Step back until the animal stops retreating or defending itself. Do not loom over it or stare into its eyes.
- Ask people, children and dog owners to move away. Near traffic, track the animal without starting a chase.
- Share an exact pin, a clear landmark and the time. Record a short video from a distance only if it does not provoke the animal.
- Stay reachable and be ready to meet the handler at the site.

What to tell a capture specialist
Give practical detail rather than emotional labels: species and approximate size, response to people, visible injuries, nearby traffic, people and animals. Use our guide to safe capture to prepare for transport.
- An exact location and a clear landmark.
- A short behaviour video and a full view of the animal.
- Any bleeding, breathing difficulty, inability to stand or other emergency sign.
- Whether you can remain, meet the specialist and arrange transport.
- Capture contacts as of 30 January 2026: Mher — +374 93 512 200, for complex cases and remote injection arranged with a veterinarian; Mushegh — +374 94 407 604, for simpler cases without remote injection.
- The interview gave an indicative capture cost of AMD 30,000–50,000 per animal. Price and availability change, so confirm both by phone.
- For an immediate danger to people or a road accident, call emergency services; the official Armenian Rescue Service website displayed 911 on the review date.
